Welcome to our home in the Anza - Borrego Desert State Park.

Lots of room, lots of light.

The property is a large 3 Bedroom / 3 (full) Bath home, overlooking the 14th Green of the Montesero golf course and, beyond that, the Borrego Valley and Mountains.  It is a warm and comfortable Old California Ranch Style that has recently been renovated inside and out. There are two master suites, one fronting the golf course (king bed), one opening to the entry courtyard (queen), both with large walk-in closets, spacious bathrooms, and generous windows & patio doors.

The open living - dining room has a vaulted, beamed ceiling, and a large brick fireplace that gets lots of use.  Living room One entire wall is glass patio doors with views of our desert garden and, beyond that, an unobstructed view to the mountains (telescope included).  The kitchen has a homey breakfast nook, also with mountain views.  The third bedroom / bath has two twins and its own private patio. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans.

Most of the house opens to patios overlooking the Borrego Mountains.  The second bedroom and main entry open to an enclosed patio that gets morning sun: perfect for a leisurely breakfast. The rear of the house has a collection of native plants and cacti, including a few small orange and lemon trees - in season you can pick and squeeze truly fresh orange juice or lemonade.

We have large, Web-enabled flat-screen TVs in the master suite, living room, and third bedroom, a quality DVD/Blue-Ray player in the living room, and a diverse music collection. Media include Satellite and a Netflix subscription for the TVs, and a high-speed wireless internet through the house. Books abound: history, biography, fiction, & local guides.  Part of owner’s art collection on the walls.  Community poolThe second master has a desk with a hard internet connection, phone, and high quality printer/scanner/fax.

Kid friendly!!

The third bedroom suite, at the opposite of the house from the master suites, has two single beds and its own patio - perfect for kids or grandchildren (as well as adults). The house has plenty of games, kid videos, and even some dolls and toys. Our children have started a little rock garden, and enjoy picking oranges for breakfast. We are just steps from the community pool and tennis court.

The house guide book has resources for horseback riding and off-roading (rent kid- or adult-sized "quads"). Trails have great kid (and adult) features: wind caves, real caves, slot canyons, waterfalls, rock climbing (not to mention lots of lizards, and occasional coyotes, fox, or bighorn).

World-class golf right out the door.

We are located on the Montesoro Golf club, an excellent and diverse, 18-hole regulation length desert course designed by Tom Fazio. The course measures 7247 yards from the longest tees, with an 81.5 USGA rating.  The club features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels, and a 32-tee driving range. For non-members the prices are $75 Weekday ($40 twilight) and $85 Weekend / Holiday ($45 twilight).

Borrego Springs & local amenities.

Ridge hike Borrego Springs is proud to boast of no stoplights, no franchise restaurants, no box stores. It is in the middle of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in the U.S., and a true gem of desert hiking, biking or riding, swimming, star gazing, golfing, antiquing, or just relaxing. Borrego Springs has a range of restaurants; our guide book lists some of our favorites. The town of Julian, just up the mountain, also has some very good restaurants and shops, and great apple pie (get one from Mom's).

Rear of house

Borrego is about two hours from either San Diego or Los Angeles, mostly along scenic roads. Once you get here you will truly feel as though you are in someplace different and special. The park contains three mountain ranges with dramatic vistas and truly world-class hiking. Drive & hike to ancient pictographs and morteros, the Mormon Trail, an original Pony Express station (with its own ghost story), and lots of other Western history (The Anza Borrego Foundation regularly conducts seminars on nature and local history.) One of Borrego's newest features is a sculpture garden of prehistoric creatures from the area - click on the image of the Gompotherium (predecessor to the elephant) for info.

Nearby Julian is the gateway to Cleveland National Forest and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Beautiful (but longer) drives take you to Joshua Tree National Park or the Salton Sea area.  The Borrego area has a range of excellent golf courses, horse trails, and a large off-road vehicle area.   We are also an easy (and scenic) drive to the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
